A History of Rolex Watches
Rolex Co appeared to become the leader among the manufacturers of watches. Today there is no person who have never heard about Swiss Rolex brand. The words "prestige", "the Swiss watches" and "the most qualitative watches" are associated with the brand name of Rolex.
The history of Rolex company started from 1908. Almost immediately it became famous. In 1910, after Rolex was introduced to the world every manufacturer wanted to get Rolex certificate because that means not only prestige, but also recognition of exclusive quality.
Rolex made a revolution in the world of watches. In 1914, Rolex Company moved from Great Britain to Switzerland and settled down in Bill city. Within short period of time Rolex purchased additional factory in Geneva. Today all Rolex watches are manufactured in Bill and Geneva only.
Oyster model (the first waterproof watch in the world) was made twelve years later. Special structure of the frame made Rolex Oyster totally waterproof.
There is about 10 million Rolex wathces was produced and it becomes very difficult to recognize fake unauthentic models. This is why Rolex Company fight with fakes for many years. There is a story about Belgium man who wore a counterfeit Rolex and has been arrested with sentence to 6 month in prison.
Rolex watches by right are reputed as the most prestigious watches. It is a symbol of success and only several people could deserve this reputation. The plenty of gold is used during manufacturing. The case of man's gold watch Rolex has 40 grammes of that prestigious metal. Female watches has only 8 gram of gold. Besides that, popular Rolex watches are in the top of lead by quality of gold that used in watch bracelet.
Rolex History
1905 - Hans Wildorf established London firm that specialised in watch distribution;
1908 - Wildorf opened new brand name: Rolex;
1910 - Rolex started to give official chronometer certification in Switzerland;
1914 - The Kew Observatory in Great Britain awarded to Rolex wristwatch a CLASS A precision certificate;
1926 - Rolex developed and patented the Oyster: first air, dust and waterproof model of watch;
1927 - Rolex Oyster crossed English Channel unscathed;
1931 - Year of Birth for Perpetual Rotor: self-winding mechanism that colud be found in every modern automatic watch;
1945 - Oyster Date model was invented. This was a first watch that automatically display a date;
1953 - Rolex had created watch for diving: - the Submariner model;
1954 - Oyster Perpetual Ladydate;
1955 - Oyster GMT Master was designed to make possible to check time in different time zones;
1956 - Oyster Day-Date;
1960 - So-called Bathyscaphe was created and plunged 35,787 feet with Mariana Trench in Pacific Ocean;
1967 - Oyster Sea-Dweller was invented - waterproof in depth of 610m/2001 ft;
1971 - Oyster Explorer II was designed;
1978 - Oyster Perpetual Date Sea-Dweller was tested for waterproof in depth of 1220m/4003 ft;
1988 - First Cosmograph Daytona was fitted with a perpetual rotor;
1992 - A new model was added: Yacht-Master;
2004 - Submariner model celebrated its 50th Anniversary with special commemorative model wich has green bezel and unique black dial.
